Year Two

Here is some of my new work on display this month at the Brick Wall Photographic Gallery.
The visual equation of place and person is established through the dynamics of a young marriage.
In my work I display the connections we make through the environments we encounter. These
environments create identity in the partners as the events shape and grow the relationship
by building it up or tearing it down.

Paper Camera!

The Dirkon is a 35mm paper camera that actually works! I've been trying unsuccessfully to make one. First the papers too thin, then too thick... I'll figure it out. I think the trick is just printing it out onto heavy cardstock right away. Here's the instructions and pdf link if you want to make one. As well as some other interesting ideas.

berndt and hilla becher

Two of my favorite photographers, Berndt and Hilla Becher. They studied together,
got married in 61', photographed industrial images for more than 40 years, and started the Becher School. Pretty Amazing.

sun and moon

Decided to try something different.
Inspired by sweet designs on Artem's blog (returnthesun.blogspot.com) and Graphic Design students at SFCC doing crazy stuff!

Lines:mini-series 1

This is my first mini-series. It explores construction and form through repetition and contrast. I feel very encouraged by it because it is a short production from thought to finish and also gives me the freedom in moving on to new ideas. Time to start looking for the next one!

goodbye

Before throwing away something I like to photograph it as a final goodbye.
This was an orchid that my husband gave me. I really love plants but can't
seem to keep them alive. I kept if for months after it died because
I didn't want to part with it but I finally did because I got a new one!
So here it is in all its shriveled up dry glory.
